Big Brakes, Big Wheels and Big Calipers

June 30, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | No Comments

Many 17 inch and larger wheels give a good view of your brake calipers. That’s not always preferred, especially if your calipers are plain or just ugly. One thing you can do is upgrade to an aftermarket set of performance brakes, which can have painted or powder coated bodies. These look great and most perform well. The down side is the price. You can have $1,500+ in a high performance disc brake kit. If you have the money and want the performance, then go for it.If you really just need your brake calipers to look better, Duplicolor has the cost saving answer. Duplicolor Brake Caliper Paint Kits come in many standard colors and offer everything you need to clean, prep and paint your brake calipers. You don’t even have to take them off the car if you don’t want to. A Duplicolor Brake Caliper Paint Kit is economical at under $20 most places and makes your brakes look like $1,500!

Bell Tech Rear Axle Flip Kits & C-Section Kits

June 23, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | No Comments

Lowering the back of a truck is almost always easier than lowering the front. With a typical straight rear axle, you can get lowering kits to get the truck down in the weeds. Swing hangers and more radical suspension changes will get you there. You can also flip the axle on top of your rear leaf springs which gains you a ton of drop. You can use spacer blocks between the axle and leaf springs to lower it more. One big problem that you soon will encounter on a radically lowered truck is the available travel between the axle and frame rails. Bell Tech makes kits to C-Section your frame rails to give more room for the suspension to collapse. Otherwise your rear end will slap the frame rails when it compresses. Bell Tech C-Section kits are purpose built to fit a specific truck. They bolt on so no welding is needed.
